Confused INC™ Member Concerning the Dead

The Iglesia ni Cristo™ is known to be the MOST notorious anti-Catholic (anti-Protestant) cult (see Exposing the cult) in the Philippines. Most of its members were former Catholics who were poorly catechized including its own founder Felix Y. Manalo a baptized Catholic, became a protestant preacher until he decided to build his own church and named it “Iglesia ni Cristo” according to St. Paul's letter to Roman Catholics in Romans 16:16.. Badly formulated, all their teachings were based on proving that the Catholic Church’ doctrines were wrong and that theirs are right.

Among its list of ANTI-CATHOLIC doctrines, Fundamental Beliefs of the Iglesia ni Cristo, Number 6 enumerates some list of Catholic doctrines they so strongly oppose Purgatory which states:
“The apostasy of the Catholic Church from the Church established by Christ in the first century took place with their turning away from the teachings of God taught by Christ and His Apostles (Worship of Images, Mass, and Priests as vicars or successors of Christ, Mediator Saints, Purgatory). Therefore, the apostasy takes place whenever there is a teaching of God the Catholic Church violates. In view of this, all the doctrines and practices of the Catholic Church should be rejected.

Let’s say for example a member of the cult Iglesia ni Cristo™ at Cenon Bibe's Tumbukin Natin Blog (Central at Kaanib ng INC Aatras na sa Debate) by the name Jay Manalo repeatedly accused Catholics as "idol worshippers".

(Statue of Felix Manalo in their Central Temple in the Philippines)

Jay Manalo said: Posted Date: 22 February, 2010 Time: 07:33
“WALANG KWENTANG TAO ANG GUMAWA NG REBULTO AT SUMASAMBA DITO SAIAH 44:9-20”

This is one example of the many double standard, two-faceted man-made teachings in the cult. They openly complained about Catholic holy images of Jesus and the Saints accusing us of worshipping them while they themselves cannot criticize themselves while offering flowers before the image of Felix Manalo in Central temple in the Philippines.

Jay Manalo, a member of the cult also make fun of Catholic practice of honoring their dead relatives. After I pointed out their immense reverence to Felix Manalo's image in Central, he was caught saying this statements Posted Date: 22 February, 2010 Time: 07:17
kayo po ba ang pag namatay ba ang nanay at kamag anak mo mahal mo sa buhay,matalik mong kaibigan,di ka pag ng bibigay ng bulalak tanda ng inyong pag respeto sa PATAY,at pag alala mang catholic defender” [how about you when yoru mother and your beloved relatives, your closest friends, are you not paying them proper respects by offering flowers as a form of reverence for the DEAD for their memory mr. catholic defender]
Mr. Jay Manalo forgot that the Iglesia ni Cristo™ is very strict in its implementation of its man-made doctrines (teachings Felix Manalo formulated according to PASUGO Mayo 1961, p. 4 and PASUGO Mayo 1963, p. 27) and strictly cautions its members NOT to hold on to any CATHOLIC PRACTICES such as remembering the dead.

(Eraño Manalo's image adorned with flowers Source: INC Church)
In a book published by the Iglesia ni Cristo™ entitled "ISANG PAGBUBUNYAG SA IGLESIA NI CRISTO" page 110, this is what we read:

“Kaya kapag ang tao'y namatay kasamang namamatay ang kanyang kaluluwa. Kung ang namatay ay inilibing, saan kaya naroroon ang kaluluwa? Ang kaluluwa ay dumidikit sa alabok." [That’s why when a person dies together with his/her soul he/she dies. When the dead is buried, where would his/her soul be? His/her soul fuses to the ashes.]

The same teaching was published in their Official Magazine PASUGO issued in December 1966, page 10:
"Kung patay na ang tao ay wala nang nalalamang anuman. Wala siyang isip. May bahagi ba ang patay sa anumang ginagawa ng buhay? Wala! Walang nababahagi ang patay." [When a person dies he/she knows nothing any longer. He/She has no more thoughts. Does the dead have any connection with the living? Nothing! A dead relates nothing!]
While they criticize Catholics, they also restricted their own members, former catholics, of adhering to the practice while their ministers are free to do so for Felix Manalo.

PASUGO Mayo 1964, p. 3: (patula)
Sa ubod ng aming puso at damdamin;
Nagkapalad kami sa gintong layunin;
Sa sikap ng Sugong naghirap sa amin.

Ang pagtatagumpay, dangal at alindog;
Ng Iglesia ngayo'y banal na kinaloob;
Sa isang pag-asa kami ay nabuklod;
Ang aming dalangin sa paninikluhod;
Salamat sa SUGO... Salamat sa Dios."

Notice here, that when Felix Manalodied in April of 1963, they fervently pray with suplications praying to the dead Felix Manalo.

PASUGO Disyembre 1964, p. 2: (ukol kay Erdy)
Tandang-tanda namin noon nang ang sugo ay namatay;
Ikaw noon ay nanumpa sa harap ng kanyang bangkay;
Para ko pang nakita na nagtaas ka ng kamay;
At ikaw ay lumuluhang pangako ay inusal;
Ang sabi mo'y tutupad ka sukdang ikaw ay mamamatay;
Mamahalin ang Iglesiang pasugo ng Amang Banal."

Notice above Pasugo quotes. What did Erano Manalo do? He swore and oath with his right hand raised before the dead body of his father Felix Manalo. And he was in tears swearing to uphold what his father has began.

Just like as its own Ministers and the late Eraño Manalo's double standard man-made beliefs, no wonder Jay Manalo, a member of the cult only inherited his own confusion.

The truth of the Catholic Church cannot be hidden and even from the mouth of its own detractors came the truth that we Catholics do not worship the statues but we only venerate them for they represent the image (just as they have their own statue and photos of the Manalo clan).

So maybe you are curious what was Jay Manalo's reply?

It's a deafening silence!

  1. About the statue of Felix Manalo in The compound of The INC In quezon city. There is no sign of the INC worshiping the statue. Unlike the catholics who proudly make a place for statues inside their churches. They kneel And pray to the idols. That statue is not in the church its in the compound of the INC. It is actually fairly far from the Church itself.
    Regarding the picture of Ka Erdy Adorned with roses, You said theres something wrong with it because it is remembering the person who died. There is no problem with remembering the problem comes when you pray for the dead because the dead have no more propose now on earth, they cant do anything. Back to it, there is no problem with remembering its only the praying

  2. There's nothing wrong with remembering the deceased members of our families. Whatever reasons you have why you erected Felix Manalo's statue in your Central Office or adorned Erano Manalo with roses, that too is our reason why we remember our dead. We want to be reminded of their good deeds..

    And what's most important, we remember their souls...

    The God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses, is not a GOD OF THE DEAD but a GOD OF THE LIVING.

    Therefore, our departed faithful maybe dead in body but their souls are alive and so we remmber them (their souls)...

    So the next time you accuse us of "praying to the dead" do not forget that we pray for their souls in PUrgatory, not their dead body..

    God bless.

  3. I myself have seen people pray to the dead but there is no use to such actions. I myself, when i was young and "ignorant", have prayed for the dead with my aunts who are still catholic. now i see the mistakes in taking these actions.

    I said remembering is OK but prying for their soul is quite pointless. i have asked many people about this topic and their answer is that they use the dead to interceded for them to The Father. but is it not said that only Christ is the one who intercedes for us to the Father? so what are saints used for?

    ok back to the topic. Yes we do remember them but do we pray for them? We should do no such action.

    Im not saying your praying for the bodies but for the soul, but why do such thing. there is nothing on earth the soul of the deceased can do.

    If you pray for the souls Is there anything that they can do for you. or is there anything that you have done for them when they are dead?

  4. Plaridel, I feel sorry for how Felix Manalo's own interpretation led you astray.

    Let me clarify this with you. According to our official Catechism of the Catholic Church:

    "All who die in God's grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation; but after death they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven. (Catechism 1030)"

    How could a JUST GOD damn a soul in eternity with just one small sin? Remember, according to Rev. 21:27 no IMPURE can enter heaven.

    The reason why you don't have the DEUTEROCANONICAL BOOKS (which Martin Luther removed) was because it supports Purgatory.

    In 2 Mac 12:45 (Deuterocanonical Books), it says "For if he were not expecting that those who had fallen would rise again, it would have been superfluous and foolish to pray for the dead. But if he was looking to the splendid reward that is laid up for those who fall asleep in godliness, it was a holy and pious thought. Therefore he made atonement for the dead, so that they might be delivered from their sin."

    In the NT, St. Paul says "Otherwise, what will those people do who receive baptism on behalf of the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people Baptized on their behalf?" (1 Cor 15:29)

    Didn't Jesus went to that state after he was resurrected?

    "After his death, Jesus went to preach to the Spirits in prison" (1 Pet 3:19)

    We Catholics believed St. Paul preached Purgatory when he said ""The work of each will builder will come to light, for the day will disclose it. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire [itself] will test the quality of each one's work. If the work stands that someone built upon the foundation, that person will receive a wage. But if someone’s work is burned up, that one will suffer loss, the person will be saved, but only as through fire." (1 Corinthians 3:11-15)

    Now tell me, where in the Bible it says that a man who stole a piece of bread will be damned eternally in hell when he dies?

    Our God is a JUST GOD. Felix Manalo's god is punitive, unjust and rigid!

  5. YOu might want to read these Bible Passages:

    Ps 66:12, Mt 12:32, Phil 2:10-11, Ecc 12:14, Lk 16:19-31, 1 Thess 3:13, Is 4:4 (cf. Eph 4:8-10; 4:7 6:5-7 1 Pet 3:19-20) 2 Tim 1:16-18, Mic 7:8-9, 1 Cor 3:11-15, Heb 12:14, Mal 3:1-4 15:29 12:29, 2 Maccabees 12:39-45, 2 Cor 5:10, Rev 5:3,13, Mt 5:25-6, Lk 12:58-9, 7:1, 21:27

    Thanks to David MacDonald for these Biblical passages.

    Praise to Jesus Christ!

  6. I feel sorry for you too for supporting the false religion

    I believe the topic of this discussion is the presence of the statue of Felix in central not about purgatory.(just saying)

    let me ask you first, in what language was the original bible written in? If you ask historians, the original language of the bible was Hebrew. There are only 66 books in the bible. 39 for the old testament and 27 for the new testament. We do not accept the teachings of the Deuterocanonical because they were not part of the original Hebrew bible.

    (1 Corinthians 3:11-15)
    you brought it up did you not? i think that The work there is the life that the person lived. And is there not a Judgement day? Is that statement in present form or past tense. no it is in a future tense. So it "Will happen". So from that you can say
    that no one has been judged yet because they are yet to be judged.

  7. I understand your confusion here. That's because we have existed for more than 2,000 years now (see your calendar its 2,010 that's how many years we've been here on earth)your cult has just hardly reached to hundreds.

    Let me ask you? How did you get the 66 books of the Protestant Bible? And why the 12 books are missing in your Protestant Bibles?

    What happened during the years
    170 AD
    360 AD
    366-384 AD
    382 AD
    397 AD
    405 AD
    1441 AD

    Who named the Bible "Bible?"

    Who patiently put the Chapters and Verses in it?

    Let me remind you that only through the AUTHORITY of the CHUCRH (that is the Catholic Church) guided by the Holy Spirit that the canon of the Bible was finalized.

    I have no doubt that this is Christ's Church and that all that all other existing churches are false!

    PASUGO Mayo 1968, p. 7:
    "Ang tunay na INK ay iisa lamang. Ito ang Iglesiyang itinayo ni Cristo. Kung mayroon mang nagsisibangon ngayong mga Iglesia at sasabihing sila man ay Iglesia ni Cristo rin, ang mga ito ay hindi tunay na Iglesia ni Cristo kundi huwad lamang."

  8. How can you say that you church is the true church even if the teachings are false. How can you say that you are the true church just because you can trace the papacy to the Time of Christ. (But actually there is no official list of popes so we may not know if we can trace it that far)

    I think there is only one basis for Christian belief and that is the bible. Who may have arranged it? The early Christians. But if the catholic church says it is the one lets just go with that. If the catholic church accumulated the bible why did they not make any corrections such as the name of the church? The answer is simple.. because they can not do such thing.

    regarding "who named the bible?" We cant say specificaly who named the bible. I n latin bible simply means "book" But the original was actually Holy book in english. And since the official language of the catholic church is latin we can say thatt the catholics gave to it its name but the name was actually used even befor it became official.

  9. Thanks for the honest display of ignorance Mr/Ms. Plaridel...

    You said: How can you say that you church is the true church even if the teachings are false. How can you say that you are the true church just because you can trace the papacy to the Time of Christ. (But actually there is no official list of popes so we may not know if we can trace it that far"

    And I say...
    So do you mean, historical sources from Encyclopedia and even Wikipedia were to be regarded as unshorlarly for having "no official list"? You really are amazing and funny.

    You said: "I think there is only one basis for Christian belief and that is the bible. Who may have arranged it? The early Christians. But if the catholic church says it is the one lets just go with that. If the catholic church accumulated the bible why did they not make any corrections such as the name of the church? And I say...
    You really shouldn't mention CATHOLICS to "early Christians". Otherwise you hit your own head and that's painful. I do understand why you are afraid to specifically mention "EARLY CATHOLIC" however one thing is for sure.. they are not members of the cult of Felix Manalo.

    You said: "regarding "who named the bible?" We cant say specificaly who named the bible. I n latin bible simply means "book" But the original was actually Holy book in english. And since the official language of the catholic church is latin we can say thatt the catholics gave to it its name but the name was actually used even befor it became official."

    When did English become the international language? OMG.. so the original word is Holy Book? Where did you get your information? lol..

    The prominent language during those first 1000 years was LATIN and English was not! Lol.. you really have to confront those ministers who fed your knowledge with wrong information.

    Yes, Latin is the language of the Church and so Biblios is named to the Bible because it was the CATHOLCI CHRUCH who compiled, finalized its canon....

    Period!
