"The Christianity of history is not Protestantism. If ever there were a safe truth it is this, and Protestantism has ever felt it so; to be deep in history is to cease to be a Protestant." (-John Henry Newman, An Essay on the Development of Christian Doctrine).

"Where the bishop is, there let the people gather; just as where ever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church". -St. Ignatius of Antioch (ca 110 AD)a martyr later thrown to the lions, wrote to a church in Asia Minor. Antioch was also where the term "Christian" was first used.

“But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth.” 1 Timothy 3:15

"This is the sole Church of Christ, which in the Creed we profess to be one, holy, catholic and apostolic." -CCC 811

Catholic Church’s BIG MISTAKE.

ano po sabi sa BIBLE?

“But there is something we must tell you and everyone else in Israel. This man is standing here completely well because of the power of Jesus Christ from Nazareth. You put Jesus to death on a cross, but God raised him to life…Only Jesus has the power to save! HIS NAME IS THE ONLY ONE in all the world that can save anyone.” Acts 4:10,12

But what does the Catholic Church did?
“’Catholic’ is the ancient name by which the Church of Christ has been known for nineteen centuries, this name was given to her not for reasons of controversy, to prove something, but because it identifies her uniquely. It was first used by St. Ignatius, bishop of Antioch in Syria, who was martyred about A.D 110. The Church founded by Christ is here, for the first time, called ‘the Catholic Church’, a name clearly to denote the Church throughout the world in union with the see or diocese of Rome. It was stress the unity of the universal Church that St. Ignatius INVENTED THE NAME.” Roman Catholic, Rev. Edward Taylor, p.3

“THE COUNCIL OF TRENT made ‘Roman’ part of the official title of the church…” Roman Catholic, Rev. Edward Taylor, p.7

“In 1870, at the Vatican Council, the name ‘Roman Catholic Church’ was proposed, but it was rejected. The bishops assembled unanimously decided upon this official name: ‘The Holy Catholic Apostolic Roman Church’” Discourses on the Apsotle’s Creed, Rev. Clement Crock, p. 191

PAHAYAG: Very clear, they CHANGED THE CHURCH’S NAME. It is clear therefore that this name did not come from the bible. This is not the name of the Church established by Christ, and therefore, not the Church that will be saved. Because it is written, His name is the only one in all the world that can save anyone. (Acts 4:12)

Now, Who can prove that the Catholic Church is the Church in the 1st century? (By historical facts? Oh no, not again!) Yes. It has its historical background but what we are talking here is, if the Catholic Church is STILL, SAME and IDENTICAL with the Church in the 1st century!
____________________________________________________________________

“Already in over 100 countries all over the world, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (kita niyo???!!) continues to grow at a phenomenal rate...”

"Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church."

Ignatius lived in the first century A.D., and was a student of the Apostle John. It's believed that he was appointed as the leader of the church of Antioch by the Apostle Peter. Ignatius died a martyr's death at the hands of the Roman Empire sometime around 110 A.D., not long after the completion of the last of the New Testament writings."

Ginamit niya ang salitang “CATHOLIC” na parang  it already EXISTED prior to his usage.

Pero malinaw—wala siyang pagpapaliwanag suggesting that the word "Catholic" was already well established and known name of the Church!

“THE COUNCIL OF TRENT made ‘Roman’ part of the official title of the church…” Roman Catholic, Rev. Edward Taylor, p.7

Different variants of the "Roman" insult appeared at different times. The earliest form was the noun "Romanist" (one belonging to the Catholic Church), which appeared in England about 1515-1525. The next to develop was the adjective "Romish" (similar to something done or believed in the Catholic Church), which appeared around 1525-1535. Next came the noun "Roman Catholic" (one belonging to the Catholic Church), which was coined around 1595-1605. Shortly thereafter came the verb "to Romanize" (to make someone a Catholic or to become a Catholic), which appeared around 1600-10. Between 1665 and 1675 we got the noun "Romanism" (the system of Catholic beliefs and practices), and finally we got a latecomer term about 1815-1825, the noun "Roman Catholicism," a synonym for the earlier "Romanism."
A similar complex of insults arose around "pope." About 1515-25 the Anglicans coined the term "papist" and later its derivative "papism." A quick follow-up, in 1520-1530, was the adjective "popish." Next came "popery" (1525-1535), then "papistry" (1540-1550), with its later derivatives, "papistical" and "papistic." (Source: Random House Webster's College Dictionary, 1995 ed.)
The term Roman Catholic appeared in the English language at the beginning of the 17th century, to differentiate specific groups of Christians in communion with the Pope from others; comparable terms in other languages already existed. It has continued to be widely used in the English language ever since, although its usage has changed over the centuries.
The church widely known as the Catholic Church consists of 23 autonomous churches (all of which are subject to the Pope)— one "Western" and 22 "Eastern" — governed by two sets of Codes of Canon Law. To refer to all 23 autonomous Churches together, official Church documents often use the term "Catholic Church" or, less frequently, the term "Roman Catholic Church". The usage that makes the term "Roman Catholic" mean members of the Latin Rite or Western Church to the exclusion of those who belong to the Eastern Catholic Churches does not appear in any recent document of the Holy See, and popes have used the term "Roman Catholic Church" on various occasions throughout the 20th century to mean instead the whole Church without exclusion of any part
In popular usage, "Catholic Church" is usually understood to mean the same as "Roman Catholic Church". In compound forms such as "Roman Catholic worship" the term is sometimes used to differentiate Western (Latin Church) practices from Eastern. However, in itself the word "catholic" translates into English as "universal" or "pertaining to the whole", as opposed to "particular" or "related to a part". Being "catholic" is one of the Four Marks of the Church set out in the Nicene Creed, a statement of belief accepted by many churches, even if not in communion with the Pope.
So, so sana malinaw na ito.

(Acts 4:12)

The opening words of the first chapter of the dogmatic constitution Dei Filius, which in the original draft were "Sancta Romana Catholica Ecclesia", were voted on on three separate dates. On the first occasion, when this chapter alone was considered, two votes concerned the opening words. The first was on a proposal by a few English-speaking bishops to delete the word "Romana", thus changing "Sancta Romana Catholica Ecclesia" (The Holy Roman Catholic Church) to "Sancta Catholica Ecclesia" (The Holy Catholic Church). This was overwhelmingly defeated. The second vote held immediately afterwards was on a proposal to insert a comma, so that "Sancta Romana Catholica Ecclesia" (The Holy Roman Catholic Church) would become "Sancta Romana, Catholica Ecclesia" (The Holy Roman, Catholic Church). This too was defeated, though not as overwhelmingly as the first proposal. In a later vote, held on 12 April 1870, the text as a whole, which preserved the same opening words, was approved with 515 affirmative votes (placet) and no opposing votes (non placet); but there were 83 placet iuxta modum votes, asking for retouches, many of them regarding the opening words of chapter I. In view of the reservations thus expressed, the text presented for a final vote and approved unanimously on 24 April changed the order of the words and added "apostolica", so that "Sancta Romana Catholica Ecclesia" became "Sancta Catholica Apostolica Romana Ecclesia" (The Holy Catholic Apostolic Roman Church).

May nabasa po ba tayong “UNNANIMOUSLY DECIDED UPON THE OFFICIAL NAME…”?

Wala po!

Ang nakasulat po ay: “UNANIMOUSLY… CHANGED THE ORDER OF THE WORDS…” hindi ang pangalan ng Simbahang Katolika.

Now, Who can prove that the Catholic Church is the Church in the 1st century? (By historical facts? Oh no, not again!) Yes. It has its historical background but what we are talking here is, if the Catholic Church is STILL, SAME and IDENTICAL with the Church in the 1st century!

Kami po!

Walang ibang makakapagpatotoo nito kundi ang TAONG NAMUHAY noon when HISTORY UNFOLDED before them.

"To be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant."

Yes indeed! The Catholic Church is still THE SAME, IDENTICAL with the Church in the First Century!

Let me quote this beautiful words coming from a CATHOLIC CONVERT- Evangelicalism to Catholicism-- Ryan McLaughlin:

“…the Catholic Church was attested to by the lives and deaths of many countless saints throughout the world and throughout the ages. The Church has survived the persecutions of the Roman Empire, invasions by barbarians, a schism with a much more powerful and wealthy (at the time) East, Vikings, the Dark Ages, the Protestant Reformation, and countless wars. She has survived bad Popes, bad bishops, pandemic nominalism, and the grievous sins of her own members. By all rights and by human understanding, she should have died out a long time ago. But here she is, still testifying to the same Truth that has been her message from century to century.” (all emphasis mine)
