"Where the bishop is, there let the people gather; just as where ever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church". -St. Ignatius of Antioch (ca 110 AD)a martyr later thrown to the lions, wrote to a church in Asia Minor. Antioch was also where the term "Christian" was first used.

“But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth.” 1 Timothy 3:15

"This is the sole Church of Christ, which in the Creed we profess to be one, holy, catholic and apostolic." -CCC 811

Happy Birthday Mother Church!

(Photo Credit: Wikipedia) Today, the Catholic Church is celebrating its Birthday. Biblically, on Pentecost Sunday, when the Holy Spirit came down to the Blessed Virgin Mary (Jesus' Mother) and the remaining disciples in the form of tongues of fire, that St. Peter spoke with boldness about the Lord Jesus Christ adding some more than 3,000 new Christians in Jerusalem on that day where everyone, "Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya near Cyrene, as well as travelers from Rome, both Jews and converts to Judaism, Cretans and Arabs" (Acts 2:1-11) could understand St. Peter's speech.

To all Catholics, Happy Birthday. May the Holy Spirit's gifts be upon you in your love ones' lives always.

God bless everyone!
