FACT: THE BIBLE IS A CATHOLIC HOLY BOOK!

Pope Damasus I was the bishop of Rome from October 366 to his death. He presided over the Council of Rome of 382 that determined the canon or official list of sacred scripture. He spoke out against major heresies in the church and encouraged production of the Vulgate Bible with his support for Jerome.

Council of Rome of 382 and the Biblical canon

One of the important works of Pope Damasus was to preside in the Council of Rome of 382 that determined the canon or official list of Sacred Scripture. The Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church, states: A council probably held at Rome in 382 under Damasus gave a complete list of the canonical books of both the Old Testament and the New Testament (also known as the 'Gelasian Decree' because it was reproduced by Gelasius in 495), which is identical with the list given at Trent. American Catholic priest and historian William Jurgens stated: "The first part of this decree has long been known as the Decree of Damasus, and concerns the Holy Spirit and the seven-fold gifts. The second part of the decree is more familiarly known as the opening part of the Gelasian Decree, in regard to the canon of Scripture: De libris recipiendis vel non recipiendis. It is now commonly held that the part of the Gelasian Decree dealing with the accepted canon of Scripture is an authentic work of the Council of Rome of 382 A.D. and that Gelasius edited it again at the end of the fifth century, adding to it the catalog of the rejected books, the apocrypha. It is now almost universally accepted that these parts one and two of the Decree of Damasus are authentic parts of the Acts of the Council of Rome of 382 A.D." (Jurgens, Faith of the Early Fathers)

Jerome, the Vulgate and the Canon

Pope Damasus appointed Jerome as his confidential secretary. Invited to Rome originally to a synod of 382 convened to end the schism of Antioch, he made himself indispensable to the pope, and took a prominent place in his councils. Jerome spent three years (382–385) in Rome in close intercourse with Pope Damasus and the leading Christians. Writing in 409, Jerome remarked, "A great many years ago when I was helping Damasus, bishop of Rome with his ecclesiastical correspondence, and writing his answers to the questions referred to him by the councils of the east and west..."

In order to put an end to the marked divergences in the western texts of that period, Damasus encouraged the highly respected scholar Jerome to revise the available Old Latin versions of the Bible into a more accurate Latin on the basis of the Greek New Testament and the Septuagint, resulting in the Vulgate. According to Protestant biblical scholar, F.F. Bruce, the commissioning of the Vulgate was a key moment in fixing the biblical canon in the West.

Jerome devoted a very brief notice to Damasus in his De Viris Illustribus, written after Damasus' death: "he had a fine talent for making verses and published many brief works in heroic metre. He died in the reign of the emperor Theodosius at the age of almost eighty". Damasus may be the author of the anonymous Carmen contra paganos (song against the pagans).

Pope Francis on Friday has elevated Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle to the order of “cardinal bishops”, the highest rank within the College of Cardinals.

Tagle and Cardinal Beniamino Stella are the newest members of the group, joining the ranks of 12 others who are mostly from the Latin rite and three cardinal patriarchs from the Oriental Churches.

The College of Cardinals has three ranks: cardinal deacons, cardinal priests, and cardinal bishops.

Cardinal bishops hold jurisdiction over a church in a suburb of Rome, while working in departments of the Roman Curia, the central administration of the church.

Cardinal deacons, often called “the pope’s cabinet”, are mostly curial officials, while cardinal priests are those working in dioceses all over the world.

It is also from the ranks of cardinal bishops that the Dean of College of Cardinals is elected. The dean presides at the conclave in the case of “sede vacante”, a period when there is no pope.

The dean also represents the Holy See during the sede vacante, and asks the pope-elect if he accepts the role.

There are customarily six cardinal bishops from the Latin Church until Pope Francis broke the tradition and appointed more of them.

The new additions to the group were deemed necessary as one of its members, Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai, turned 80, the retirement age for cardinals, last February. Six other members had been over the age of 80, making them ineligible to enter a conclave.

The former Manila archbishop left the Philippines in February to assume his post as prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, a powerful Vatican office overseeing the church’s vast mission territories.

Also known as “Propaganda Fidei,” its prefect is also known as the “red pope” because of its considerable power in the Roman Curia and the appointment of bishops in mission lands.

Since his elevation as cardinal, he was also given the church of St. Felix of Cantalice in the Centocelle as his “titular church”.

Cardinal Tagle’s new appointment was made on May 1, the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker. Incidentally, he was appointed to the top Vatican post last Dec. 8, 2019, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.

Si Félix Manálo, na kilalá ring Ka Felix, ang tagapagtatag ng Iglesia Ni Cristo, bagama’t sa mga opisyal na talâ ng nasabing simbahan, siyá ay tinawag na Unang Tagapamahalang Pangkalahatan at Huling Sugo ng Diyos sa mga Huling Araw.

Isinilang si Manalo sa Taguig noong 10 Mayo1886. Ang kaniyang mga magulang ay sina Mariano Ysagun at Bonifacia Manalo, na isang debotong Katoliko. Nang yumao ang ina, bilang pagpapahalaga rito ay pinilì niyang maging Manalo ang kaniyang apelyido. Bagama’t lumaki sa aral ng Simbahang Katolika, naging mapagtanong ang isip ni Manalo kayâ lumahok siyá sa iba’t ibang sekta upang masagot ang kaniyang mga tanong. Naging tagasunod siyá ng Colorum, isang grupong nagdaraos ng paglalakbay sa isang banal na bundok. Pagkaraan, nilisan niya ang Simbahang Katolika at naging pastor sa Methodist Episcopalian Church. Tumigil siyá ng pag-aaral nang mamatay ang kaniyang ina at nang bumalik sa pag-aaral ay nagpatalâ sa Presbyterian Bible School. Nakakilála niya ang grupong Christian Mission at nag-aral sa Manila College of the Bible sa loob ng apat na taón. Sa grupong ito, natutuhan niyang pahalagahan ang pagbibinyag sa pamamagitan ng paglubog sa tubig. Naging tagapangaral siyá ng Salita ng Diyos kabilang sa isang grupong nakilalang Society for the Propagation of the Gospel. Pinakasalan niya nang mga panahong ito si Tomasa Sereneo na taga-Paco, Maynila.

Naging miyembro siyá ng Seventh Day Adventism at nang yumao ang kaniyang asawa, nagpakasal naman siyá kay Honorata de Guzman, na kabílang sa nasabing sekta. Ngunit sumapit ang panahon na kinukuwestiyon na niya ang pangingilin ng grupo kapag araw ng Sabado. Nang hindi makatanggap ng kasiya-siyang sagot, nagbitiw siyá bilang ministro noong 1913. Nagtatag siyá ng sariling grupo noong 1913, na kilalá ngayong Iglesia Ni Cristo (nang una ay Kristo ang baybay). Ipinatalâ ang Iglesia noong 27 Hulyo 1914, ang araw ng pagsisimula ng Unang Digmaang Pandaigdig. Noong 1922, pinalutang ng Iglesia ang idea na si Manalo ang “huling sugo ng Diyos,” dahil para sa kanila, ang kanilang tagapagtatag ay maihahambing kay Moises o kay Pablo ang Apostol. Ang isa pang dahilan ay upang mapatatag ang pamumunò ni Manalo sapagkat may isang sektor na nagtangkang umagaw ng pamamahala ng simbahan. Yumao si Felix Manalo noong12 Abril 1963.

Mabilis na lumago ang mga aral ng Iglesia. Noong 1948, mayroon itong 60,000 miyembro, na naging 200,000 noong 1960. Nagkaroon ito ng mga simbahan hindi lámang sa Filipinas kundi sa 75 iba pang bansa sa buong mundo. Ngayon, mayroon na itong 1,250 lokal na kapilya at 35 katedral sa iba’t ibang panig ng bansa. Mayroon din itong 21 kongregasyon sa Estados Unidos. Noong 27 Hulyo 2007, sa ika-93 anibersaryo ng pagkatatag ng INC, isang panandang pangkasaysayan ang inilagak ng National Historical Institute (NHI) sa bahay na sinilangan ni Manalo sa Barangay Calzada, Tipas, Taguig. Idineklara rin ng dating Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ang Hulyo27 bilang “Araw ng Iglesia ni Cristo.” (AEB)

Dahil sa walang habas na Kasinungalingan ng mga ministro ng Iglesia Ni Manalo minsan na rin pala silang binanatan ni Dr. Daniel B. Wallace dahil sa paggamit ng INC sa kanyang aklat na "Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics" sa pambabaluktot ng katotohanan. Narito ang kanyang pahayag:

Maging ang salin ni George Lamsa na "Church of Christ" ay sasang-ayunan kaya ni Lamsa na ito ay ang Iglesia Ni Manalo kung sakaling nabubuhay pa siya? Malamang hindi! Kaya nga noong inilimbag ni Lamsa ang kanyang salin noong 1922 hanggang sa kanyang kamatayan ay hindi siya naimbetahan [sic] sa Iglesia Ni Manalo.

Ganun din ang Moffat bible na isinalin ni James Moffat na inilimbag noong 1924, sa kanyang salin na "far east" sasang-ayon kaya siya na ito ay propesiya para sa Pilipinas kung sakaling buhay pa siya??

:) Napakalaking advantage kapag buhay pa ang mga author kasi kapag ginamit sa KABULUKAN ang kanilang MASTERPIECE tiyak na mapapahiya itong mga MAPAGSAMANTALANG KABUTE (other term for 1800s and 1900s Man-Made churches).

Opo! Huwad po yung mga bagong sulpot na Iglesia Ni Cristo ayon na rin sa opisyal na magasing ng INC™ 1914! Huwad na nga ang pagka-Iglesia, huwad pa rin ang pamemeke nila ng bagong kaanib.

Ang isang tunay na pari (kung Katoliko man ang nasa larawan) dapat sana ay alam niya kung anong kahulugan ng mga kulay na kanilang sinusuot. Hindi  naghahalo ang Luntian at Pula!

Kung mamemeke rin lang naman, dapat 'yung malapit-lapit naman sa katotohanan.

2020 Taon ng Ekumenismo at Inter-Religious Dialogue: Kailan kaya makikipag-dialogo si G. Eduardo V. Manalo sa Santo Papa?

Isang kaanib ng INC™ 1914 nagpaabot ng kanilang opisyal na magasing Pasugo sa Santo Papa ng tunay na Iglesia ni Cristo. (Credit to the owner)

Kaawa-awang mga nilalang. Inaakala nila na sa pagbibigay nila ng kopya ng Pasugo sa Santo Papa ay magpapasakop na ang pinuno ng tunay na Iglesia ni Cristo sa INC™ na tatag ni Ginoong Felix Y. Manalo noong 1914 sa Sitio Punta Sta. Ana sa Maynila (Pilipinas). Inakala ng kaanib ng INC™ 1914 na sa pakikipagkamayan niya sa Santo Papa at pagbibigay niya ng kopya ng Pasugo ay isang BIG DEAL.

Para sa Santo Papa, wala siyang pinagkaiba sa mga nauna pang mga panauhin sa Vatican. Siya (ang kaanib ng INC™) ay napadaan lamang at hindi naging panauhing pandangal. Bago pa man sila nag-abot ng magasin, maraming mga relihiyon na ang nagbibigay sa Santo Papa ng kanilang mga babasahing pangrelihiyon tulad ng mga Muslim ng Argentina na nagbigay kay Pope Francis ng kopya ng Qu'ran.

Mabuti pa ang Saudi Arabia ay may pinadalang tagapamagitan mula sa kanila. Ang Muslim na ito ay nagbigay ng musbaha (ang rosaryo ng mga Muslim) sa Santo Papa bilang regalo. At ito ay tinanggap naman out of courtesy.  

Ang iba't-ibang religious leaders sa buong mundo, maging ang mga lider ng mga non-Christian religions at mga non-Catholic religious leaders ay nakipagkita sa Santo Papa ~ ang Iglesia Ni Cristo® 1914, kailan kaya HAHARAP si Ginoong EDUARDO V. MANALO kay PAPA FRANCISCO sa Vatican at magkaroon ng dialogo?

Ngunit ang mga ito ay ang KATOTOHANANG HINDING-HINDI MABABAGO ng INC™ 1914:

• Si Cristo ay DIYOS na nagkatawang-tao (Juan 1:1-14)!

• Si Cristo ay DIYOS na NAPARITO sa laman! (2 Juan 1:7)

• Si Cristo ay DIYOS! (Filipos 2:5-8)

Pasko: Ang Pag-aalaala ng mga Kristiano sa Kapangananak ni Cristong Manunubos

Tuso ang mga aral ng mga huwad na sugo ng Iglesia Ni Cristo® 1914. Napaniwala niya ang ilan sa mga Katoliko na salat sa kaalaman na ang PASKO ay hindi dapat ipinagdiriwang sapagkat 'wala' (o hindi literal na nakasulat) sa Biblia.

Ang PASKO NG PAGSILANG ni Jesus noong una ay TINATANGGAP ng INC™ 1914. Katulad ng mga Katoliko at halos lahat ng ibang Kristiano, ang Iglesia Ni Cristo® 1914 ay itinuring ang Pasko bilang KAARAWAN ng kapangananak ng Manunubos.

Ngunit hindi nagtagal ay tahasang TINUTUTULAN at PINUPUNA nila ito sapagkat ito ay PAGDIRIWANG ng mga KATOLIKO na kanilang itinuturing na mga kaaway. Sa katunayan, mismong ang kanilang opisyal na magasing Pasugo ang nagpapatotoo kung ano nga ba ang kahulugan ng PASKO para sa mga NAGDIRIWANG nito.

Hindi naman maikakaila ng mga Kristiano na ang Christmas o Pasko ay hindi nakatitik sa Biblia. ngunit hindi nangangahulugan na pinagbabawal itong ipagdiwang.  Sa katunayan maraming mga bagay-bagay ang hindi nakasulat sa Biblia ngunit BULAG-BULAGANG PINAPANIWALAAN ng mga kaanib sa kulto ni Ginoong Felix Y. Manalo.

Halimbawa! 

• Biblia - ang salitang 'biblia' ay hindi natin nababasa sa Biblia. Ngunit dito halos humuhugot ng tagpi-tagping aral ang INC™ 1914 para makabuo ng saknong.

• Felix Y. Manalo - ang pangalan ni Ka Felix ay hinding-hindi nasusulat sa Biblia, maging ang kanyang anak na si Eraño at si Eduardo ay hindi sila nakatitik sa Biblia. Ngunit naniniwala silang si Ka Felix Manalo ay hinulaan sa Biblia sa Isaiah 46:11.

• Huling Sugo - walang mababasa sa Biblia ukol sa pagdating ng 'huling sugo'. Tanging ang pagdating ng manunubos ang hinulaan ng mga Propeta noong una ~ ang Diyos na magkakatawang-tao o Emmanuel Sumasaatin ang Diyos.

• Pagtalikod na Ganap ng Iglesia - dito nakabatay halos lahat ng aral ng INC™ 1914. ang kanilang aral na ito ay may pagkakahalintulad sa mga Mormons na itinatag ni Ginoong Joseph Smith Jr. noong 1830. Sinasabi ng mga Mormons na kinakailangang itatag muli ni Ginoong J. Smith ang iglesia ayon sa utos ng Diyos Ama matapos na ito ay tumalikod-na-ganap noong namatay ang huling apostol (110 A.D.)  Kinopya ba ni G. Manalo ang kanyang aral sa mga Mormons?

• Pilipinas - at lalong walang mababasang 'Pilipinas' sa Biblia. Ngunit naniniwala ang mga kaanib ng INC™ 1914 na ang bansang Pilipinas raw ang tinutukoy na "pulu-pulong dagat" (Isaiah 24:14)

• Iglesia Ni Cristo - ang 'Iglesia Ni Cristo' (na may malaking titik na I-N-C)  ayon sa official registration nito sa Pilipinas at sa buong mundo ay hindi nakatitik sa Biblia. Ang nakasulat sa Biblia ay 'mga iglesia (o iglesya) ni Cristo' at hindi 'Iglesia Ni Cristo'. Ito ay Roma 16:16 sa Tagalog Version lamang natin mababasa. Ang pinagmamalaking "iglesia ni Cristo" raw sa Mga Gawa 20:20 (Lamsa Translation lamang mababasa) ay 'Iglesia ng Diyos' sa orihingal na salin at hindi 'Iglesia Ni Cristo'

Ang MUNDO ay HINDI NASASAKOP sa Iglesiang tatag ni Ginoong Felix Y. Manalo kundi sa Iglesiang TATAG mismo ni Cristo ~ ang Iglesia Katolika (Pasugo Abril 1966, p.46). Ang mundo ay umiikot sa KATOTOHANAN at hindi sa mga BULAANG PROPETA na sumulpot lamang nitong nakaraang 105 taon.

ANO BA ANG 'PASKO' (CHRISTMAS) AYON SA KATOTOHANANG ALAM NG BUONG MUNDO?

Katulad ng pagkakaalam ng mundo sa Iglesia Ni Cristo® bilang TATAG NI FELIX MANALO, ang PASKO o Christmas ayon sa pang-unawa ng BUONG MUNDO ay IISA lamang ang pakahulugan. Mula Asia, Africa, America, Europa at maging sa mga bansang hindi-Kristiano tulad ng India, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain at sa Saudi Arabia, ANG PASKO ay PAGDIRIWANG ng KAPANGANAKAN ni CRISTO.

Hindi po sabi-sabi lamang ito. Umpisahan natin sa Wikipedia ay ganito ang sinasabi:

Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, observed primarily on December 25 as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world.

Ito naman ang sabi ng Brittanica Encyclopedia Online:

Ito ang buod ng katotohanang mababasa natin sa lahat ng mga Encyclopedia o talasalitaan sa buong mundo ukol sa Pasko.

A woman remains a virgin before and after giving birth – as the Christmas songs go: “The virgin Mary had a baby boy” (African American spirituals, since 1867) and “O Come, All Ye Faithful.” I love Andrea Bocelli’s rendition of Adeste Fideles, which, BTW, has the following excerpts in English that mentions the virgin birth:

…True God of true God, Light from Light Eternal,

Lo, he shuns not the Virgin’s womb;

Son of the Father, begotten, not created… (Adeste Fideles)

Such belief is beyond the most famous Beatles, who had abandoned their Christian upbringing but came out with several Christmas albums in the 1960s. In 1965, after John Lennon (1940-1980) made a sarcastic remark that the Beatles had become “more popular than Jesus,” he became extra-careful to choose his Christmas songs, that is, without the mention of Jesus at all. The Beatles disbanded in 1970 but celebrated Christmas with friends, family, and fans every year without fail. Lennon sang “So This Is Christmas” but without acknowledging that the season reminds everyone of the birthday of Jesus.

Of course, global atheists say that “Christians don’t own Christmas” and prefer to teach their children the Johnny Mathis version of “Frosty the Snowman.” Of course, the increasingly secularizing and consumeristic “no-religion” generation annually enjoys “the most wonderful time of the year” and prefers more to sing Michael Bublé’s “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” than to admit that a virgin conceived and gave birth to the Son of God.

But the historical fact remains: The virgin birth of Jesus (see Wikipedia) happened 2,019 years ago and that singular event affected human history like no other. It means, even if the Beatles refused to sing “Hark! The herald angels sing, glory to the newborn King,” Jesus so deeply marked the future of all humankind that the chronology of history is defined by His birthday, the undeniable landmark of which is the acronym BC and AD or Anno Domini, the Year of the Lord.

When the First Christmas happened in Bethlehem, Mary appeared to have had a husband, Joseph, for otherwise Mary would had been stoned to death. Since a pregnant virgin was unnatural or “beyond the ordinary,” and therefore socially unacceptable, Joseph played a silent, albeit important, role in God’s big plan. Yet, it is a breaking good news to those who believe, then and now: A woman remained a virgin before and after giving birth.

The Christian calendar

December 8 – Mary was conceived by St. Ann;

September 8 – Mary was born, exactly nine months after;

March 25 – Jesus was conceived by Mary without a biological father;

December 25 – Jesus was born, exactly nine months after.

Mariah Carey’s “O Holy Night… It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth” is one of my favorites as it narrates our dear Lord’s birth on December 25, which is exactly nine months after March 25, the day of the Annunciation, when He was conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of the Virgin Mary. It’s not a legend. It’s not a make-belief. Every normal child stays nine months in the womb before birth, right?

Our Lady’s birthday falls on September 8 having been conceived in the womb of St. Ann exactly nine months before, on December 8, the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. Drawing a parallelism, I venture to say that we cannot celebrate the Annunciation without celebrating the Immaculate Conception nor can we celebrate Christmas without celebrating the Nativity of Mary. Can a child be conceived and born without a mother?

At 12 noon at SM Malls, staff and some shoppers keep still for a while when the Angelus is prayed over the PA system. The Angelus is a perennial reminder of the Annunciation, also known as the Incarnation of the Son of God or Pagkakatawang Tao ng Anak ng Diyos, when the Son of God became the Son of Man in Mary’s womb.

Once in a while it’s nice to jog our memory of that special event in history when God’s love in the Flesh is closely linked to the personal decision of one woman set apart from all the rest. In the Angelus, when Mary said, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it done to me according to Thy Word,” the virgin becomes pregnant! That, for me, is always a breaking news.

There is no greater Church that the original Church of Christ and this is a FACT: The Iglesia Ni Cristo® - 1914, must accept that the Catholic Church is STILL the ONE and ONLY CHURCH OF CHRIST the LORD JESUS established on earth and no other. The CATHOLIC CHURCH was established in the First Century by the LORD Himself that's why the Church is STILL the OLDEST, THE BIGGEST and the GREATEST!
