Rappler: INC and the mentality of exclusivity

A young member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo questions the teachings she has grown up with

I’ve been an Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) member since I was born and my father is a minister. My siblings and I were raised to behold as absolute truth all doctrines without question. As kids, we’re brazen to tell our friends “Mag-Iglesia ka na kundi mapupunta ka sa dagat-dagatang apoy.” (Convert to Iglesia; otherwise, you'll end up in hell)

We’re flying with wings of righteousness holding the light to guide those lost in the darkness, we call sanlibutan; completely convinced that we’re indeed the chosen ones come judgment day. All we have to do is follow like sheep and salvation is certain. This is my myopic reality.

Into the darkness

Coming of age, I learned our creationist view is indubitably wrong given the insurmountable evidences against it, yet I find this mistake tolerable; assuming perhaps a scientifically-informed interpretation of the bible isn’t necessary for salvation. I was indifferent about this just as I am in overriding any of my rights for the sake of unity; trusting that it’s always for the good of the church.

What became unbearable is having my consciousness raised about the multi-dimensional causes of poverty. I cannot unlearn what I know now - that the terrible social realities we dismiss right before our eyes as normal is caused by injustice from existing power structures in society.

It was alarming for I was undeniably guilty of being part of a church responsible for reinforcing structures that sustain poverty through our social attitude and practice of ‘unity.’

We are INC first before we are Filipinos

It is our faith, albeit fatalistic, that the world will inevitably perish and no developmental agenda by man could prevent it; we are only travelers here for our true residence is the kingdom of heaven. Hence, we resign concern about matters outside our kingdom unless it might undermine doctrines or the church administration.

We show power in numbers through bloc-voting and secure key positions in the government in order to protect the interests of the church, never mind whether it’s a corrupt official as long as the church is secured. This is why INC was indifferent during the People Power I despite all the atrocious harm done towards the Filipino people - all because we allied with former president Ferdinand Marcos, the dictator.

Culture of apathy

Since our primary concern is the good of the church and not of the people in general, an apathetic attitude towards social issues is fostered among members.

We’re prohibited to participate in any form of social mobilization or unions because it’s against the unity of the church, even if such actions addresses concerns that directly affect the welfare of members.

Greedy corporations who operate with inhumane policies are fortunate as INC members are willing allies to preserve an unfair system. We abstain claiming accountability from power-holders in the name of ‘peace.’ - a peace that is oblivious of its implications.

Yes, we’re an obedient flock of docile sheep but we’re also subtle criminals and dignified perpetrators of injustices against our fellowmen. With brilliant pride we take the side of the oppressors.

Our brand of humanitarianism

The provision of generous aid to millions of non-members through medical missions, relief distributions and housing projects are token gestures, for “conversion” is our utmost motivation by exploiting the sense of utang na loob (debt of gratitude).

INC’s brand of humanitarianism does not involve championing the interest and welfare of the poor by addressing root causes of social issues. Our humanitarian cause is the 'noblest' of all: to save your soul from damnation by converting you to the one true Church of Christ.

Masters of mobilization

We’re taught that hardships and misfortunes in life are either caused by sin or are trials we must endure. However, evidence suggests that societal structures and how its citizens participate in shaping it in the course of history is the concrete reason for the everyday struggles of today. Poverty is avoidable, development is a choice.

The public witnessed INC’s power to amass more than a million people in its administrations’ behest. If the church could use its clout to truly help the nation by addressing long term needs and root causes of perennial social issues – such as lobbying and supporting genuine agrarian reform, a fair wage and other issues that affect the marginalized majority, where many of its own members come from, we shall contribute to societal change.

Aren't we humans first?

My conscience is disturbed when I saw my fellow brethren exalte upon news of famine, war, destruction and calamities where thousands of people lay dead. Some even said, “Makasalanan kasi ang sanlibutan, matuwa tayo dahil nalalapit ang kaligtasan natin.” (The people are sinful. We should be happy because our salvation is near.) They seem to forget we’re humans first before we even subscribe to any religion.

'Saving your soul' as a single mission is quite selfish in the face of human suffering. I understand it stems from fear and existential uncertainties, but It’s wrong to choose a convenient personal escape and say “kung gusto niyo rin maligtas, umanib na kayo” (if you want to be saved, join us) instead of engaging in collective action driven by empathy and compassion.

We glory over the Philippine Arena, Guinness records, and the thousands of congregations we’ve built like the elite ruler gloating over his empire.

There is harm in a mentality of exclusivity when we operate in the context of a larger society. Imagining a fragmented reality wherein we are only travelers goes against the truth that we have a responsibility to contribute and cooperate in facilitating change in the world. We can do this by renouncing apathy and using our power to mobilize for the good of people. - Rappler.com

Just the Basics

• Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) is a Filipino megachurch founded over a century ago whose founder claims to be God’s last messenger
• The INC has been implicated in criminal activities and murders and maintains strict control over the lives of its adherents
• The church has spread across the world and is focusing its attention on Africa, presenting potential dangers to local communities

On Sunday mornings in South Africa churches across the country are packed with the faithful. In one neighbourhood in Cape Town, parishioners make the journey to the local church. Devoid of a steeple and surrounded by a white picket fence, the church exudes an unassuming air. Donning their Sunday best, worshippers file into the church, passing under a large seal emblazoned with the words Iglesia ni Cristo.

To anyone casting a casual glance, the phrase might be in Latin, a common enough occurence in many churches. Closer observation reveals something surprising: the writing is not in Latin, not even in Spanish - it’s Tagalog, the main language of the Philippines. Inside, the Southeast Asian hints are even more visible - the preacher leading the congregation is Filipino; one of many who have travelled to South Africa (and beyond) to spread the good news.

Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) - or the Church of Christ in English - is a sect from the Philippines that has set its sights on global expansion, with Africa seen as a key growth market. Despite being relative newcomers to Africa, back in the Philippines, the INC is a force to be reckoned with, boasting millions of followers and wielding considerable ecclesiastical and political power. The first INC congregation in South Africa was founded in 1977 by Rogelio M. Rafals, a doctor with the UN Development Program. Initially seeking out fellow Filipinos in the area, Rafals eventually received permission from the INC back in the Philippines to minister to the local population as well.

By 2015, the INC had a presence in nine African countries, with that number jumping to sixteen just a year later. 2018 has seen further rapid growth, with INC General Auditor Gilcerio B. Santos Jr. stating that “we’re sweeping both Northern and Southern Africa as we reach out to INC members and non-members alike.” Whereas the activities of Iglesia Ni Cristo look like yet another wave of foreign missionary work in Africa, the INC’s controversial reputation makes their expansion into Africa of particular concern.

Iglesia Ni Cristo and the personality cult of its Executive Minister

In order to understand the INC’s background and why its overseas expansion is viewed with suspicion by some, we need to leave Africa for the time being and return to the Philippines. The brainchild of one Felix Y. Manalo, the INC came into being in 1914 with Manalo as the church’s executive minister. INC teaching exalts Manalo as God’s last messenger, and that only members of the Church will be saved come the Rapture, for (in the INC’s view) all other Christian denominations have watered down Christ’s teachings.

“It’s comforting to know that we have salvation already promised because we are part of [Iglesia Ni Cristo],” says Johannesburg INC member Jabulile Mbonambi. “If I was told tomorrow that I have to go to a very deserted area just so that I could be a part of anything to do with the Church, it doesn’t matter. I won’t even think twice. I’ll just go because my membership mean my life to me.”

Libel cases filed by INC vs former ministers junked

The Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office junked the five libel cases filed by powerful religious group Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) against two of its former ministers and another ex-INC member due to insufficiency of evidence.

In a 12-page joint resolution, Assistant City Prosecutor Manuel Luis Felipe dismissed the libel cases against Isaias Samson Jr., former INC minister and ex-editor-in-chief of Pasugo, INC publication; Eliodoro Yuson Jr. and Rodel Rosal, former INC minister and member, respectively.

Also exonerated from the libel cases were Marc Jason Cayabyab, Abel Ulanday and John Nery, reporter, publisher and editor-in-chief, respectively, of Inquirer.net online news.

In the resolution, Felipe said that three elements of libel – persons defamed were identifiable, the defamatory remarks were made public and the remarks were defamatory – were present in the complaints filed, but the other element – malice – was not present.

“The subject TV/radio interviews and news articles are clearly defamatory. There is no question that the subject interviews and news articles were made by respondents Samson, Yuson and Rosal and complainant Santos was identified by name in the TV interview and news articles. But the weakness in the complainant’s cases lies in the second element -which is malice. The burden is on the side of the respondent to show good intention and justifiable motive in order to overcome the legal inference of malice,” Felipe said in his resolution.

Why I Left Iglesia Ni Cristo and Became Secular

I was born a “handog” in a big clan of Iglesia Ni Cristo here in Makati. I even sent my younger brother to New Era University to study BEM (Bachelor of Evangelical Ministry). It’s been four years since my brother got ordained as a full-pledged minister.

I am from the family of “true believers”. My father who passed away last year at the age of 91 served as a head deacon ever since I was a child (now I’m 37). My sister is a head secretary, another sister is a head choir, and another sister is a deaconess. My oldest brother-in-law [sic] assumed my father’s position as a head deacon after he passed away. All three of my brother-in-laws are head deacons, while our youngest brother holds a high position in INC Engineering.

My knowledge about this religion is not a joke after all, but I stopped attending worship services even before this current scandal broke-out. The more knowledge I have, the more I became convinced that this group is not with the biblical god.

As a man of integrity, my family respected my decision. Not even my brother – who is a minister, can answer my questions.

The reason why I left INC is simple yet too personal. I don’t want other people to control myself. I don’t want to live in isolation. I don’t want to be told to do this and do that – not from the people who weren’t even feeding me – the leadership of INC. I don’t want to live like a robot and do only things in their favor.

Yes, members of INC are deprived of freedom – freedom that a normal person should have. Members are blind to realize this because their minds are clouded by the term “pasakop sa pamamahala” (follow the head).

INC is all about psychology. They planted fear (of dagat-dagatang apoy) to members so they follow whatever the leaders (ministers) told them to do so because if they won’t, they will be expelled. Expulsion is scarier than death according to them.

I wasted a lot of time and money in this religion for almost three decades. I went to the church twice a week and attended in different church-related activities, but lately I asked myself “What for? What all of these sacrifices all about when leaders are spending INC’s money in luxury?”.

Any religion is business and the best selling product is “fear”. INC is champion in teaching “fear” to its members.

With the current situation, the normal worship services are totally different than before. The church is losing a lot of respect from the general public, and in order to control the damage, it is strictly pushing the members to follow whatever Eduardo Manalo has to say.

I won’t join in any other business of religion. I will remain secular – a simple person who follow the rules of law.

The current scandal inside the Iglesia ni Cristo will only worsen. I already told my minister brother to prepare for the worst to come. I asked him once, “What are we going to do if what happened to Lowell Menorca and Isaias Samson happened to you?”. My brother was speechless.

The Iglesia Ni Cristo council will do everything and spend all the members’ money to protect themselves, but I don’t see the law on their side. Truth will prevail and this time, they will be the biggest losers. The public – unlike the INC members, are not dumb. Eduardo Manalo has just destroyed the 100-year legacy. The damage is beyond repair.

Ex-INC minister's house help: Leaders force my family to lie

MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) – Abegail Yanson, the house help of former Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) minister Lowell Menorca, insisted she was not abducted by her boss as she denied the claims of her own parents.

In a video obtained by Rappler, a tearful Yanson belied claims that Menorca abducted her. She added that the INC’s Sanggunian (Council), or top leadership, is forcing her family to lie.

“Walang katotohanan na hindi ako pinapayagang umuwi,” Yanson said in the video provided by incdefenders.org. (It’s not true that I'm not allowed to go home)

Reacting to the video, INC spokesman Brother Edwil Zabala said in a text message to Rappler: "As stated earlier, we are confident that the truth shall prevail in this current controversy and that our officials will be vindicated by our judicial system. We continue to pray for all those affected by, and involved in, these cases."

Zabala added: “Mahirap na pag-usapan ito sa media dahil ang mga taong nasasangkot lalo na ay nakapagbigay na ng kanilang mga judicial affidavits sa Court of Appeals. Ang mga bagay pong ito ay sub judice na. Ang sinuman na mangangahas na gumamit ng anumang mga pahayag na kasalukuyang dinidinig ay maaaring ma-contempt."

(It is difficult to talk about this in media because the persons involved, most especially, have submitted their judicial affidavits to the Court of Appeals. These cases are now sub judice. Whoever dares to use any statement that is being heard, can be cited in contempt.)

Menorca faces a serious illegal detention complaint for supposedly prohibiting Yanson from seeing her family since being brought to Manila from Bulan, Sorsogon, last July. (READ: INC minister Lowell Menorca: The story of my kidnapping)

But Yanson said it was her own decision to stay. “Sinasabihan na po ako ni Ka Jinky [Menorca, wife of Lowell Menorca]: 'Ano Abby, uuwi ka na ba?' Pero hindi ko po kayang iwan si Ka Jinky dahil nararamdaman ko po, may mangyayaring hindi maganda sa akin o sa kay Ka Jinky kaya hindi ko po sinunod na uuwi ako. Nanatili ako sa kanila,” she said.

(Ka Jinky told me: 'Abby, are you going home?' But I couldn’t leave Ka Jinky behind because I already felt that something bad was going to happen to me or to Ka Jinky. That’s why I didn’t go home. I chose to stay with them.)

'Takot silang matiwalag'

Yanson said her family, including her parents who filed the case against Menorca, are being used by the Sanggunian. “Sana palayain na po silang… hayaan 'nyo po silang pasalitain na wala pong bantay… Masakit po para sa akin na makita ko 'yung mga magulang ko sa TV na puro kasinungalingan ang sinasabi laban sa mag-asawa,” she said.

(Let them go. Let them speak without someone guarding them. It’s painful for me to see my parents on TV spewing lies against the Menorcas.)

Yanson added: “Napakasakit po. Nagagalit ako sa mga Sanggunian. Sobrang nagagalit po ako kasi magulang ko na po 'yung hawak, kapatid ko… tapos po kung anu-ano po ang salitang pinagsasabi nila na alam nilang hindi totoo. Kaya po nila sinasabi 'yun dahil tinatakot sila. Tinatakot silang matiwalag.”

(It pains me. I am angry at the Sanggunian. I am very angry because they’re controlling my parents, my sibling… and they force them to tell these lies under threat. They’re threatening to kick them out of INC.)

“Tiwalag” is a term that refers to those expelled from the INC.

Yanson ended her video with a message to her parents and the INC's leadership.

"Ma, Pa… alam 'nyo namang hindi magagawa sa akin 'yan ng mag-asawa. Na kidnapin ako, i-detain ako, pilitin nila akong isama. Napakabait nila sa atin, sa mga kapatid, sa akin… alam 'nyo na alam ko na hindi nila kayang gawin 'yan sa akin. 'Wag kayong magpagamit, sabihin 'nyo ang totoo. Nananawagan ako sa INC, sa Sanggunian. Hayaan 'nyo po ang magulang at kapatid ko, hayaan 'nyo na silang magsalita ng katotohanan. Huwag 'nyo po sanang pilitin pa sila sa mga kasinungalingan lalo na’t hindi totoo dahil ako po mismo ang kusang sumama kay Ka Jinky, sa mag-asawa."

(Ma, Pa, you know that the Menorca couple would never do that to me – kidnap me, detain me, force me to go with them. They've been so kind to us, to our brethren, to me. You know that I know they would never harm me. Don't allow yourselves to be used, tell the truth. I call on the INC, the Sanggunian, to let my parents and sibling be. Let them speak the truth. Don't force them to lie because I chose to stay with Ka Jinky out of my own will.)

Detained minister

Menorca is among the former INC officials who were supposedly ordered detained by the local church’s top brass, over a scandal that has rocked the influential religious group. His detention was allegedly because of his criticisms of the INC’s leadership, which is being accused of pocketing the group’s funds for their own benefit.

The Menorca family – Lowell, Jinky, and other members of their household – were rescued late October after months of supposedly being held against their will inside the INC compound in Quezon City.

The Supreme Court later on issued writs of habeas corpus and amparo for Menorca, his wife, Yanson, and Yurie Keiko Otsuka.

Menorca's lawyer, Trixie Cruz Angeles, previously told the Court of Appeals that a woman, supposedly from the police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, had tried to force Yanson to come with her during the hour-long recess in the proceedings. Angeles said this was proof that her clients need the protection offered by a writ of amparo.

The INC's lawyer belied those claims, saying the commotion was only because Yanson's mother was stopped from approaching her daughter. Yanson herself said she did not know the woman who approached her.

The serious illegal detention case against Menorca was filed the day after Menorca faced the CA for the first hearing on the former minister's petition for writs of habeas corpus and amparo. – Rappler.com

Catholic Response To The Iglesia Ni Cristo Rallies

What do we Catholics do as our brothers and sisters of the Iglesia ni Cristo throng around the EDSA Shaw area?

We, your bishops, offer you these guidelines:

1. PRAY WITHOUT CEASING for a peaceful and just resolution of the present dispute, in a manner both pleasing to God and in conformity with the democratic convictions enunciated in our Constitution.

2. BE CHARITABLE AT ALL TIMES AND IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES. Jesus, the Lord, willed His disciples to be known by their love. No Catholic should fan the flames of dissension by rumor-mongering and by inflammatory statements. Let all be kind in disposition, respectful in speech and prudent in action.

3. SEEK ENLIGHTENMENT. We appeal to our Catholic lawyers, jurists and law professors to contribute to the on-going discourse in a constructive manner, without condemnation. We seek to be enlightened on what the fundamental law of the land provides, the boundaries of the freedom of religion and the rights and the prerogatives of State.

4. RESPECT HOLY SITES. The EDSA Shrine is a Catholic center of worship. It is a church. There is a Catholic priest assigned to it. We ask that all respect the sacred character of the Edsa Shrine.

5. ABIDE BY THE LAW. Unless it is convincingly shown that a law offends moral precepts, obedience to the law is a Christian duty. Sons and daughters of the Church cannot be less observant of the law than other citizens of the Republic.

6. NO TO OPPORTUNISM. No politician should gain political ground by abetting dissension or, worse, fostering disregard of the Constitution and the law. Neither is it morally correct for any political party to aim at gaining an advantage by controlling a religious sect known to propose to its members a chosen set of candidates.

If we turn to the Lord in sincere prayer, then, we are firm in the faith that all wounds shall be healed.

In addition, he is the brains behind the production, marketing, and forcible distribution of various UNLAD products to brethren as well as the crafting of an effective payment collection scheme. Co-ministers will attest that he decides on the fate of his fellow ministers, i.e., who gets promoted, demoted, reassigned, taken down, or worse, expelled. And lest we forget, he is also the mastermind behind the creation of the never-ending special, special offerings and the corresponding bended-knee style of devotional prayers to guilt the brethren into giving more. And if you will be able to ask around, every District, every Office, every Section, every Department in the whole of Central and other Bureaus, there is only one name who calls the shots, who makes the decisions, who gives the Go-Signal, who Approves anything and Everything, who has the power to STOP anything and everything, and unfortunately that is no longer the name of our beloved Executive Minister, Bro. As you will see later in this article, this Santos family has surreptitiously, deceitfully and deliberately injected themselves into almost every facet of the Church, MAKING THE SANTOS FAMILY AN INDISPENSABLE FIGURE IN THE CHURCH. In fact, he and his family are directly involved in the executive and day-to-day management of INC companies notably FYM Foundation, the Subic Bay-FYM Foundation, UNLAD, F. Y. Medical Foundation (New Era General Hospital), Maligaya Development Corp., and New Era University (by extension, also the College of Evangelical Ministry). Their power extends not only in the Philippines but globally wherever the Church has a presence. In the United States, Bro. Jun Santos may keep younger sibling Boy on a leash but make no mistake. Bro. Boy Santos is a ruler in his own fiefdom, the Iglesia ni Cristo United States Main Office (USMO). According to fellow ministers in the U.S., he is every bit the tyrant that his older brother is. To those who do not know, USMO “acts as an extension of the Church Administration, assisting in overseeing a vast portion of the globe.” (Ref. http://incmedia.org/usmo-united-states-main-office/). Bro. Boy’s equivalent at the Europe Main Office also bows down to Bro Jun. With so much power to wield and a vast resources at this family’s disposal, is it any wonder the Church is plagued by allegations of: corruption among the Church hierarchy, bribery, political wheeling and dealing, harboring a fugitive, unabashed capitalism, furtive business ventures, more and more Church properties being offered for sale, unexplained wealth of those in the Advisory Council, ministers leading an opulent lifestyle discordant with their stipend, “express” expulsions of suspected brethren dissidents and complete disregard for due process and long established procedures ?

In the words of Mayer Amschel Rothschild, “Let me issue and control a nation’s money and I care not who writes the laws”. Or put another way, he who controls the purse strings… makes the rules. On May 8, 2015, we were asked to report to the District office to meet with the District Minster, Brother Dyland Ramos. Brother Dyland told us that he received 2 reports about our re-posting on Facebook of a blog written by Antonio Ebangelista entitled “Locale of Humble, Texas For Sale: The Anomaly after the Anomaly” and the Facebook post about the “Ministers of the Sangunian shutting down his Facebook account”. We were asked to submit our affidavits explaining our situation. During our meeting, we asked what was our sin? The response given was that it was wrong that we re-posted these blogs and shared the post of Antonio Ebangelista, who apparently was identified as a detractor of the Church, which we were not aware of at the time of our initial post. So, on May 10, 2015, we submitted our affidavits to Brother Dyland and he instructed us to wait for instructions from the Administration...

Hirit pa noon nitong tagong ministro sa kaniyang blog na INC Defenders Online (na deactivated na) na may pamagat na "PAGHAHANDOG WAG IKATISOD" (na ngayon ay hindi na rin makikita sa websearch at hindi ko rin nakuhanan ng screen shot) ilang ulit niyang sinabing ang Iglesia Katoliko ay "tuluyan ng BUMABAGSAK" daw at kailangan nilang DAGDAGAN ang kanilang KONTRIBUSYON o ABULOY dumarami raw sila at kailangang BUMILI ng mga LOTE o mga bahay sambahan.

Pero kapansin-pansin ang TIMING ng unang post niya matapos na siya'y pansamantalang nawala raw sa pagba-blog (dahil kaya sa crackdown na ginagawa noon ni Ka Jun Santos sa mga social media?).

Buti na lang at nakunan ni G. Antonio Ebangelista ng Screen Shot bago pa nila binura sa internet at sasabihing sinungaling si G. Ebangelista?  Ngayon, kaya pa kayang i-cover up ni Ministro ReadMeINC ang mga pagbubunyag ni G. Antonio Ebangelista ukol sa talamak na kaimoralidaran ng mga Ministro sa Central?

Tungkol naman sa mga imoral daw na mga Ministro na naglilingkod sa INC™ Central, heto ang pagkasabi ni G. Ebangelista:

Dapat kapag sinabi sayong GAWAIN MO ‘TO, sasagot ka agad ng OPO!"

"Tingnan ninyo ngayon ang bilang ng mga nababalik sa karapatan na Ministro at napupunta sa mas magagandang destino o kaya ay kinukuha sa Central para maglingkod sa iba’t-ibang Tanggapan, karamihan dun ay mga nagka-kaso ng imoralidad. Nakipagrelasyon sa ibang babae, pumatol sa menor de edad, nangalunya at naki-apid. Subalit agad na nababalik pagkalipas lang ng ilang taon, at ang masakit ay may ilan na hindi talaga naaksyunan, nalipat lang ng Destino kahit pa kaso ng imoralidad... Mga Ministrong napatunayan na kayang isaisang-tabi ang moralidad at Ministerial ethics ng dahil sa pansariling pakinabang o kaligayahan."

"Marami ang nagtatanong sa akin, bakit sa kabila ng mga lantarang nagaganap na pagbabago sa Iglesia na palala pa ng palala ay parang hindi yata ito batid ng ating Tagapamahalang Pangkalahatan. Imposible naman daw ito. Kaya para malaman natin ang kasagutan ukol dito ay alamin natin, ano nga ba ang ISTRATEHIYA ng Sanggunian? Ang istratehiya nila ay isang mabisang “COVER UP” upang maitago ang lahat ng ito sa Tagapamahalang Pangkalahatan. Tinitiyak nila na napapaligiran ang Ka Eduardo V. Manalo ng mga taong pinagtitiwalaan ng Sanggunian upang matiyak na hindi makakalusot sa kaniya ang kahit anumang impormasyon na maaaring makapagbunyag sa kanilang ginagawang pagmamalabis."

"Ang pinanatili nila sa pwesto sa mga Distrito sa Metro Manila at karatig na Distrito ay mga Tagapangasiwang kilala sa pagiging “mapanginoon”, “molestyador sa mga materyal na bagay”, “magaling mandaya ng ulat” at mga “sakim sa mahalay na pakinabang” at maaasahan (malakas “mag-abot”). Kaya nga kapag nagkaroon ng lifestyle check sa lahat ng mga Tagapangasiwa din sa mga Distritong ito ay malalantad din ang kanilang mga “hidden wealth”, “dummy bank accounts” at mga house and lot, condo units, mamahaling sasakyan na ipinangalan nila sa mga kamag-anak o dummies nila upang huwag ma-trace sa kanila... Ito rin ang “rationale” kaya maraming mabibilis na na-promote gaya ng Ka Romer Galang at ka Regalado Delos Reyes na dating nasa TV bilang tagapagsalita, naging Pastor ng Lokal ng Central. Paano sya tumalon sa pagiging Tagapangasiwa agad? Dahil sa napatunayan nya sa Sanggunian na handa siyang gawin ang LAHAT, kahit talikuran ang kaniyang sinumpaang katapatan sa Diyos.

"Marami ang nakakakila sa atin kay Ka Regalado Delos Reyes na isang mabait, malumanay at mapagpakumbabang Ministro…noon. Subalit ngayon, alam nating lahat (lalo nan g mga taga-Central) kung paanong nagbago na siya. Alam ito ng mga ilang kapatid na nakasaksi kung paano sigawan, pagsalitaan ng masasamang salita ng Ka Rey ang Pamilya ng Ka Erdy.
